We are thrilled to finally be offering some of the most exciting Antarctica expeditions currently available anywhere: our brand new suite of Emperor Penguin Fly-in Safaris!
Our Emperors & South Pole tour takes you deep into the ‘last frontier’. Vast and inhospitable to humans, Antarctica it is both brutal and delicate. The world’s largest desert, it holds almost three quarters of the world’s fresh water. Historically, Antarctica probably supported the largest concentration of wildlife known on earth, virtually wiped out by sealers, whalers and fishermen in a matter of decades in the early 19th century. A tour to Antarctica, and more specifically the South Pole is no mean feat even today, though certainly more comfortable and attainable that it was over 100 years ago when Roald Amundsen, Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton vied to be the first to reach it.
‘Experience of a lifetime’ is an often over-used and under-defined phrase, but we believe this short tour will surpass even your greatest expectation of just what it does mean. We depart the ‘Mother City’ of Cape Town on-board an opulent Gulfstream private jet, touching down on the Antarctic massive in a little over 5 hours. Based at a private camp, we explore our immediate surrounds as well as making a visit to an immense Emperor Penguin colony. A visit to the South Pole will put you in exalted company, as one of the very few humans to have ever stood here.
